The promoter of a large-scale student-oriented spring music festival is close to finalizing arrangements to move the event to a site a mile west of Athens.
Dominic Petrozzi, founder and executive producer of the annual “number-fest” (this spring’s edition is “8 Fest”) confirmed Friday that a deal with local developer Brent Hayes for the new festival site is all but a done deal. “We’re just waiting for it to be notarized,” he said. READ FULL ARTICLE.

For several years one of the most notable aspects of the so-called number-fests in Athens has been the mud, the mud wrestling and generally all things mud. But the owner of the property west of Athens where it looks like this year’s 8 Fest will be held said Tuesday that this isn’t much of a concern to him. Brent Hayes, who is in the final negotiating stage to rent a parcel of property off of Ohio Rt. 56 for $1 per ticket with a minimum payment, said that the former hayfields that will be home to the event need reseeding anyway. The Athens NEWS caught up with Hayes to get his view on the fest this year. He said the deal isn’t finalized, but Columbus promoter Dominic Petrozzi and he have been having a lot of discussions. Every year the number goes up, starting with just the original title of ‘Fest’ and soon after adding a number for every year the tradition is continued. The location varies but usually this fest is planned for an open area for musical acts that just keep getting bigger every year. Traditionally, most people pile into cars, vans, or pickup trucks and make their way down the country roads that will lead you to what is now 8 Fest.
It will be very obvious who the veterans and the newbies of 8 Fest are. Coming in tattered, old throw-away clothing are the veterans, prepared for what are messy expectations of the soon-to-be 8 Fest. Unfortunately for many newbies, they tend to overdress for the occasion and end up being shocked when they find out that 8 Fest does to a fashionable outfit. READ FULL ARTICLE...
