For several years one of the most notable aspects of the so-called number-fests in Athens has been the mud, the mud wrestling and generally all things mud. But the owner of the property west of Athens where it looks like this year’s 8 Fest will be held said Tuesday that this isn’t much of a concern to him. Brent Hayes, who is in the final negotiating stage to rent a parcel of property off of Ohio Rt. 56 for $1 per ticket with a minimum payment, said that the former hayfields that will be home to the event need reseeding anyway. The Athens NEWS caught up with Hayes to get his view on the fest this year. He said the deal isn’t finalized, but Columbus promoter Dominic Petrozzi and he have been having a lot of discussions.
